Hi.
I have an exciting update to share in the coming days, especially if you’re subscribed because you’re into the brands and products I’ve made over the years.
For now, I want to put a bow on this naming series and fulfill the promises I made at the end of Part 1, but didn’t get to in Part 2. Chief among them is a look back at the world of Cloud Paint, a product I came up with at Glossier which was stupidly easy to name. Consider this a case study on building a tight world around a product which best highlights its selling points.
Sometimes the creative execution, the “world,” can get a little too abstracted in favor of being cool and trendy, losing connection to the product and failing to educate on its benefits. Take, for instance, a regular here in the AOMOAYO universe, queen of our hearts and pores, Hailey Bieber’s most recent launch at Rhode: Peptide Lip Shape, “the contouring lip shaper.” A lip liner is the perfect makeup launch for her, famous for mirror selfies while over-lining her perfecto pout. It comes in several nude-ish shades for a range of skin tones, and has a little silicone smudger on the end to create a soft, blended edge.
